Dr. Ashley Ojo (she/her) is an accomplished Associate Professor of Psychology with a deep commitment to addressing the critical health and environmental disparities affecting diverse populations' mental, emotional, and social well-being. Currently serving as the Social Science Department Chair at Southern University at New Orleans, a prominent historically black college and university (HBCU), situated in the heart of an urban environment in New Orleans, Ojo is at the forefront of pioneering research and advocacy. She is a licensed professional counselor supervisor in Louisiana. Ojo is also clinically licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is a National Certified Counselor, certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors. Ojo obtained her master's in clinical mental health counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana. She received her doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision Leadership from the University of Holy Cross. With a rich academic background and extensive research experience, Ojo is researching the significant correlations between health, environmental resource scarcities, and mental health disparities. Her research is characterized by its interdisciplinary nature, drawing from ecological psychology, general psychological concepts, and mental health to shed light on the multifaceted challenges faced by marginalized communities.
