Dr. Janey Camp (she/her) is a Research Professor and Associate Director of Adaptation and Resilience for the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER) at the University of Memphis. She is a licensed civil engineer, a certified GIS Professional, and certified floodplain manager in the state of Tennessee and is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Camp’s research addresses challenges related to infrastructure management and community resilience, including the impacts of climate change and natural hazards on transportation and water infrastructure systems and the communities they serve. She has led and contributed to projects sponsored by government institutions including the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the National Waterway Foundation. Camp also has a passion for education outreach and stakeholder engagement. She has worked with Metro Nashville Public Schools, the Tennessee Department of Education, and private organizations to integrate GIS and risk-informed decision support into Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum and other public education activities. At the local level, Camp has worked closely with the City of Nashville, TN as part of their Smart Cities Council efforts related to urban flooding and vulnerable populations, served as co-chair to the Resilience and Adaptation Subcommittee for Nashville Mayor Cooper’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, and currently serves on the Metro Stormwater Management Commission. Camp is a co-author for the Southeast Chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment and serves on national-level committees for ASCE, including the Committee for America’s Infrastructure and the Infrastructure and Research Policy Committee and the Transportation Research Board’s Inland Waterways Transportation Committee.
