Photo of Dr. Carl JohnsonDr. Carl Johnson (he/him) is an experienced lecturer and researcher who received his B.S. in Chemistry from Alabama State University in 1989 and worked in industry (WR Grace Chemicals) from 1989 to 1991. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Alabama in 1995. Johnson was a Research Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh (1995-1996). Johnson has been a faculty member at Southern University at New Orleans since 1996. He has risen from the rank of Assistant Professor to Professor of Chemistry. Currently, he serves as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Johnson has served on seventy university committees since 1996, and he has received funding for numerous grants. He was a co-author and co-project manager for several NSF-HBCUUP sponsored grants. His research interests are in Supramolecular Chemistry, Green Chemistry and Biofuels. Johnson is a member of the National Institute of Science and Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Societies. Also, he is a proud and active Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
